Mention the offer when you book. One offer per household per visit; offers can’t be combined with each other and don’t apply to work already quoted or completed. Local pricing and availability vary by location - your local Gatewood Fence & Gate team confirms the final price in writing before any work begins.
Every job is priced the same way: a free written estimate
We price the job, not the hour. Before anyone touches anything, you get the full price for the specific work in writing - no hourly meter, no membership to join, no financing to sign, and no line items added afterwards. If the number isn’t right for you, the estimate is still free and you owe us nothing.
How We Price Gate Repair Work
Every job at Gatewood Fence & Gate is priced off a free written estimate specific to your gate, your property, and what it actually needs. There’s no hourly rate ticking in the background, no plan to join, nothing to sign up for. You see the full number before anyone picks up a tool, and that number doesn’t move.
That’s deliberate. Hal Gatewood has been doing this since 2001, and he’s watched homeowners get hit with “plus labor” and “plus parts” line items they never agreed to. The written estimate exists so that conversation never happens here. What’s on the paper is what’s on the invoice. If it turns out there’s more to the job than the estimate covers, we stop, tell you, and re-quote before we do another thing.
What a Visit Actually Costs You to Find Out
Nothing. The estimate visit is free. We come out, look at the gate – the hardware, the operator, the hinges, the post alignment, the wiring if there’s an opener involved – and we write down what it needs and what that costs. The whole visit usually takes thirty to forty-five minutes. At the end of it, you have a written quote you can keep, think about, and compare against anything else you’ve been told.
You are under no obligation to say yes. If you want to sleep on it, sleep on it. Hal’s name is on the estimate and it means the same thing the next morning that it did the night before.
When People Usually Call Us
There are two kinds of calls. The first kind comes after something happens – a storm knocks the operator offline, a freeze cycle binds the track so tight the motor strains against it, or a hinge that’s been creeping for months finally lets the gate sag past the point where it latches. Those calls come in fast and we treat them that way.
The second kind is more considered. A lot of homeowners in communities with shared or HOA gates start thinking about the gate before the holiday season, when traffic through it doubles and nobody wants to be the household dealing with a stuck entry at Thanksgiving. We also hear from people in the early warm months, after the ground has shifted over winter and suddenly the gate doesn’t sit quite the way it did in October.
Neither situation is an emergency or a non-emergency by default – that depends on the gate. A driveway gate that won’t open at all is a different conversation than one that opens slowly. Either way, the estimate is the same: free, written, and given to you before anything else happens.
What You Can Expect From Us Either Way
A few things don’t change based on which offer applies to your job.
The price is in writing before work starts – always. The 90-Day Done Right Promise is stamped on every job in writing, not noted in fine print somewhere: if something isn’t right within ninety days, one call brings Hal back. No runaround.
The person who answers when you call at midnight is a live person, not a voicemail, not a queue. Every tech who comes to your property is background-checked and in uniform. Hal Gatewood’s name is on the shop, on the truck, and on the invoice, and his license number is published – you can look it up. That’s been true since 2001 and it hasn’t changed.
On-site welding means your gate stays in your driveway. No “we’ll take it to the shop and call you in two weeks.” If it can be fixed, it gets fixed where it stands.
Seniors and veterans get a permanent 10% discount on every visit, no expiration, no hoops. That one’s not a promotion – it’s just how Hal prices the work.
Common Questions
Is the estimate really free?
Yes, fully. We come to your property, assess the gate, and give you a written price at no charge. There’s no “free estimate” that turns into a diagnostic fee on the invoice – that number is zero, and it stays zero whether you hire us or not.
Do you offer financing or a monthly plan?
No, and that’s intentional. We price each job off a free written estimate – one number, one job, agreed in writing before work starts. There are no subscriptions, no payment plans, no membership tiers. We’ve found that a clear, single price is a lot easier to trust than a product with terms attached to it.
Can I combine two offers?
One offer per household per visit. If two apply to your situation, we’ll let you know which one saves you more – that’s the one we’ll use. We’re not going to make you do the math on a job site.
Does the price change once you’re here?
No. The written estimate is the price. If we open something up and find an additional problem that wasn’t visible during the estimate, we stop work, explain what we found, and give you a revised quote before we touch anything else. You decide whether to proceed. Nothing gets added to the bill without your sign-off first.

Call (877) 610-2993 – a live person answers around the clock, every day of the week. Or book online if that’s easier. Either way, you’ll get a free written estimate with a price you’ve agreed to before any work begins. No surprises on the invoice. That’s the whole deal.
