Training & Ongoing Support

You don’t need to know how to weld before you call us. You don’t need to have touched a gate opener in your life. What you need is a willingness to show up, do right by the person on the other side of the phone, and run a business where your name matters. We’ll teach you the rest. Hal built Gatewood Fence & Gate from a one-man shop in 2001, and the training program exists because he remembers what it felt like to not know which end of the torch was hot. That’s not a line. That’s why we don’t rush you through a manual and wish you luck.

Initial Training

Before you ever run a job on your own, you’ll spend time learning the trade from someone who’s been doing it since 2001. That means understanding how a gate sags in the hinge post, not in the middle. It means learning why you fix the panel without the post and you’ll fix it twice. You’ll work with LiftMaster, FAAC, BFT, Linear, Viking, Ghost Controls, DoorKing, Elite, and Mighty Mule openers until the wiring diagrams stop looking like spaghetti. You’ll learn on-site welding so the gate stays in the driveway instead of getting hauled off for a fortnight. You’ll also learn the business side: how to quote a job at the door and not change the number when the invoice prints, how to schedule a window and actually hit it, how to hire someone in your own community who will still be there in five years, and how to run local marketing that doesn’t feel like a used-car pitch. Our L.O.C.A.L. values get taught, not laminated and forgotten. Local roots. On time. Community first. Accountable. Loyal. Every one of those words has a job on the truck.

Launch Support

Opening the doors is where most new owners get nervous, and it’s where we stay closest. We help you set up your local marketing so people in your county actually find you when their gate won’t open on a Saturday morning. The lead engine isn’t a call center three states away. It’s a system built around the fact that a live person answers every call, 24/7. Your first jobs get coached. You’re not out there alone quoting a big iron driveway gate and hoping for the best. You’ll have someone who’s installed hundreds of them walk you through the bid, the parts list, and the install from start to finish. We’ll help you get your published address and license number in front of people who check those things before they dial. And when your first 90-Day Done Right Promise come-back call happens, which it will, we’ll show you exactly how to handle it so that customer stays for twenty years instead of one ticket.

Ongoing Support

  • Field coaching from people who still work on gates, not trainers who read a PowerPoint. You hit something weird on a job, you call and talk through it with someone who’s fixed the same thing twice this month.
  • Marketing support that stays local. We help you reach homeowners 50 to 70 in small towns and rural counties who want a name they can verify, not a national outfit that quotes one number on the phone and another at the door.
  • Vendor relationships with nine major gate brands already in place. You don’t spend a year earning a parts account. You walk in with ours.
  • Technology and software for scheduling, quoting, and job tracking, set up so you spend your time on the driveway, not in a spreadsheet.
  • National brand campaigns that carry the Gatewood Fence & Gate name to people who remember a real American surname that happens to contain the trade.
  • Ongoing training as new openers, new safety requirements, and new access control systems come out. The trade moves. We keep you current so the 90-Day Done Right Promise stays easy to keep.
